Pumping stations

18_dommitzsch_thumbA pumping station is a water management system that pumps water from a low flood plain, also known as a polder, to a body of water in a higher location. This type of water regulation can protect the low-lying area from flooding, so that it can safely be used for building development, agriculture and traffic infrastructures. Rakes and rake cleaning systems are frequently used before pumping stations in order to prevent contamination and destruction of the pumps.
